OnePlus 7 Pro Boasts a 90Hz Screen, Three Cameras, and Costs $669 (venturebeat.com) 65

Chinese smartphone maker OnePlus has revealed two flagship smartphones: the OnePlus 7, and the OnePlus 7 Pro. From a report: The OnePlus 7 Pro's headlining features include a 6.67-inch AMOLED display (resolution: 3120 x 1440 pixels) with a 90Hz refresh rate, upgraded fast charging, and a telephoto lens -- and they don't come cheap. At $669, the 7 Pro's sticker price is far higher than that of previous OnePlus devices. The OnePlus 7 Pro's edge-to-edge waterproof design is very "of the moment," and that's not a knock against it. Much like the displays on Samsung's Galaxy S10 series and Huawei's P30 Pro, the OnePlus 7 Pro's is rounded at each corner along the contours of the frame and slightly tapered at either edge, slightly curving toward the rear cover. Other features of the OnePlus 7 Pro include a Snapdragon 855 SoC; 6GB or 8GB, or 12GB RAM; 128GB or 256GB UFS 3.0 storage; 4,000mAh battery; "Warp charge" fast charging (no wireless charging). For its camera system, the OnePlus 7 Pro has three different cameras on the back, with a 48-megapixel main sensor, a 16-megapixel ultra-wide camera, and an 8-megapixel telephoto camera. There is a 16-megapixel on front in a motorized module that pops up out of the top of the phone -- meaning the display has notch, or any other cut out. The phone runs Android 9 with OxygenOS skin. Now, about the OnePlus 7: So the OnePlus 7 won't hit U.S. stores. It makes do without a retractable selfie cam (it's got a notch instead) and it omits the 7 Pro's curved screen edges in favor of a thicker border between the display's left and right side and the frame. The ultra-wide angle sensor is missing in action, but as something of a consolation, the OnePlus 7 features a slightly larger battery -- 4,150mAh -- that's compatible with Warp Charge. The OnePlus 7's price has yet to be announced, but it's expected to be a good deal cheaper than the OnePlus 7 Pro.

  • Such immense value for money compared to anything from Apple.

    • Trump just increased the price of all Apple products by 25%... but then, he just increased the price of this phone too!
  • There doesn't seem to be any way to check that off in the available options list.

    So, "8" for short?
  • Unless you are built like your average NBA player, putting a phone that size to your ear will make you look like a complete jerk. I guess the rebuttal would be that nobody puts a smartphone to their ear any longer.
    • nonsense, those of us who are older like large displays and I can get my hands around one of those fine and only being average height of 179 cm (5' 10.5")

at least we live in a kinder gentler age and probably no one is going to kick sand in your face and call you "runt"

  • If people aren't annoyed by the sound of my screen refershing then the refresh rate is too low! #500HzOrBust [youtube.com] ;)

  • So much for "flagship killer" pricing.. I love my 1+6t, but I may look elsewhere for my next device if prices keep increasing.

No headphone jack, so we can free up space for all important... yet another camera as a pop-up that will scratch and break. You couldn't pay me $669 to take this piece of trash.

The 6t came with a dongle that hooked to the charging jack that allows headphones. Not that I use it, I use my Bluetooth headset, which sounds so much better than my plug-in earbuds.

Might as well go all the way to Nexus 7 size.

What we really nee is a modern 4-5 inch phones with replaceable batteries and a headphone jack.

  • No way am I even considering a "Flagship Killer" Phone for north of 600 Euros. With that price, it's not a such a thing anymore IMHO.

Just updated my Moto G5 Plus to a Moto G7 Power. 210 Euros. Mini-bezel and a notch I got used to in less than an hour. 6.2" Screen, 65GB internal storage, 4GB RAM. 12 Megapixel camera. I really don't need more. 650 Euros for a touchscreen smartphone these days is nonsense.

    My 2 eurocents.

  • The OP7 is a much better phone but the Pixel 3a @ effecitvely $100 is a killer deal. $400 for the 3a, minus $250 trade-in credit an iPhone SE I bought for $50 (you can still buy them for around $80 online from pre-paid suppliers - Google doesn't care if the phone is carrier locked), minus a $100 Google store credit that can be used on a future purchase.
  • I'm seriously considering taking advantage of the trade-in program and getting the 7 Pro. I've owned Samsung Galaxies and iPhones exclusively before I got the 6T and I've loved it. No... it doesn't have a headphone jack per se, but it included an adapter to plug a headphone jack into the phone. Everywhere I use it, I use bluetooth except the work truck, so I leave the headphone adapter in there.

It's fast...responsive... the whole experience is nice. Granted, the camera isn't AS good as the Pixel or iPhone,
