crosshatch writes "Purdue researchers are proposing to add solid-state radiation detectors to cell phones. If millions were in use, the detectors coupled with location aware cell phones would form a sensing grid to detect nuclear material. But watch out for the banana glowing in your pocket."

  • I remember talking to Keith about this sometime shortly after 9/11. He mentioned that he first had the idea of putting a scintillation crystal detector into wristwatches, and informing the public who to call to report a watch showing a radiation alert quite a few years before that.

    It's a good idea, I hope it's implemented.
